The Expert Forum of Professor Huang Yongmiao(Session 125) Was Successfully Held

On the afternoon of March 11, 2024, The "Expert Forum" (Session125) was held in the sixth Conference room of Beijing Institute Building. The lecture was delivered by Professor Hong Yongmiao, Dean of the School of Economics and Management of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, academician of the Academy of Sciences for Developing Countries and a world-renowned econometrician. More than ten teachers and more than 100 students of BNUBS, including Qi Yudong, Dean of BNUBS; Sun Zhijun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School participated in the forum. The lecture was presided over by Dean Qi Yudong.

The theme of this lecture is "The Evolution of Econometrics and Statistics Research Paradigm in the Age of Numerical Intelligence". Professor Hong Yongmiao, starting from the main characteristics of the age of numerical intelligence, combined with the seven major problems existing in statistics and econometrics, explained the impact of new technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence on the research paradigm of statistics and econometrics from a strategic perspective. He also focused on four aspects: big data and statistical measures, the cross integration of macro statistics and micro statistics, the statistical modeling paradigm based on large models, causal inference and explainable statistics. During the lecture, Professor Hong constantly asked questions, guided teachers and students to think, and deeply impressed teachers and students by presenting his own research and that of other scholars and enumerating many in-depth examples.


Xu Minbo, Director of the Department of Economics, summarized and commented on Professor Hong Yongmiao's lecture. Xu Minbo highly appreciated Professor Hong Yongmiao's speech, and thought that Professor Hong Yongmiao's directional judgment on cutting-edge issues was very enlightening, which benefited teachers and students present, and expressed his heartfelt thanks to Professor Hong Yongmiao for his wonderful sharing.

Finally, Dean Qi Yudong once again thanked Professor Hong Yongmiao for his wonderful speech, and believed that this lecture shared the frontier development of metrology and statistics in the age of numerical intelligence, deepened the teachers and students' cognition of econometrics, statistics and even psychology, and was of great benefit to the students of economics and management. In the warm applause of the teachers and students, the 125th "Expert Forum" was successfully concluded.
